| The Good | action packed, good satirical humor, interesting concept |
| The Bad | personally not a fan of narration, some unbelievable moments, foul language from the mouth of babes may offend. |

This is a good super hero movie. It doesn't take itself too seriously, pokes fun at the genre, and manages to keep a coherent, albeit crazy storyline. For the most part the cast is unrecognizable with the exceptions in Nick Cage, Mark Strong, and McLovin. Kick-Ass starts off with a bang, setting the fun, violent tone for the rest of the movie. The movie is pretty formulaic in terms of superhero origins, but the similarities to the likes of Spiderman end there. The story takes an interesting turn and introduces a father and daughter duo who really change the game up for Kick-Ass. Kick-Ass is definitely an R-rated movie. foul language and bloody violence is around every corner, but for the target audience it should be okay. There are some concerns about the eleven year old Hit Girl who curses and kills her way through the movie, but again not a big deal if your old enough for a R movie anyways. This film also boasts Nick Cage's best performance in recent memory. Cage's portrayal of big daddy is bad-ass and hilarious all rolled into one Batman looking character. Oh, and McLovin is still McLovin and will probably always be McLovin. The action in Kick-Ass is top notch and there are even some dramatic moments. Overall, the movie is very entertaining. This is comedy/satire Superhero Movie should have been. |

I saw this movie last night at a screening in Miami. It seemed that whoever pubbed the movie did a half-baked job in honor of 4/20. For a FREE movie staring Jonah Hill and Russell Brand advertised towards college students, the theater was surprisingly empty; only about a third of the seats were filled. The whole situation seemed more embarrassing for a Miami local, when two stars showed up after the movie for a Q and A session and asked if this (the crowd) was it (referring to the lack of). I'm sure if it was announced that Brand and Hill will be making an appearance there would have been a bigger audience. The movie itself was very good and the young crowd reacted to jokes with hearty LOLs. Before the movie played a host announced Get Him to the Greek is an unofficial sequel to Forgetting Sarah Marshall. This announcement was completely unnecessary and misleading. Apart from Russell Brand and Kristen Bell playing the same characters, there is not much to support the "sequel" label. Greek is comedy that stands all on its own. Brand is once again Aldous Snow, putting in a performance thats probably very accurate of an English rock star. This movie focuses more on Snow's character development and offers up outrageous laughs along the way. Jonah Hill still has good comedic timing and is funnier than every as a guy trying to keep up with work and a relationship. The writing is clever and jokes come faster and more often than in Sarah Marshall. They get a little over the top sometimes and some scenes are a little long, but overall its an enjoyable experience. The celebrity cameos are welcomed, especially the scene stealing Sean Combs. If you liked this cast and this style of comedy before, Get Him to the Greek is more of the same goodness. The movie is not life changing by any means, but it sure is a fun ride. |

| The Good | Beautiful city, exciting cultural and business center, good universities nearby |
| The Bad | it's a city with a large population so, traffic, job competition, crime, and such with be naturally higher |
| Your Review | Good enough for Sinatra, good enough for me. The windy city has always been an important transportation and communications hub for the mid west, and today it continues to hold down its reputation. Chicago is the third largest city by population in the US, and its O'Hare Airport is the second busiest in the world. Living here really gives you a sense being in the modernizing world; a place that shapes the future rather than merely experiencing it. |

Daft Punk's Alive 2007 is a great album. The group's sound is very creative, combining techno beats, robotic vocals, and rockin' guitar solos into well paced and immensely enjoyable music. This is not your run-of-the-mill, mediocre girl vocalist singing over a thumping bass track techno. if you didn't know already, Daft Punk is made up of two average looking French dudes who don magic music making robot helmets. They are most often seen with said helmets on, adding to the illusion that alien humanoids are coming up with this great stuff. And, unlike Slipknot's hellish masks that they insist on keeping on, Daft Punk's helmets look pretty cool. So, on with the CD review. The album mixes some of their most popular tracks, updated and refined, all performed live. 12 tracks mixing about 20 of their songs means this CD is a pretty good sample of their style. The songs are well paced, changing it up enough to stay fresh, and often into something so different its oddly cool. Some songs on Alive 2007 are even epic like #4 Too Long/Steam Machine; the transition into Steam Machine would be fitting for a Blade Runner trailer. Sometimes it's hard to find an album where most of the tracks are enjoyable, thankfully this one delivers. You can sample the tracks over at Amazon, but keep in mind it is electronic music so some samples wont show its true potential. If you are looking for something different from the same six pop songs on the radio these days, give this CD a try. On another nerdy note, Daft Punk will be imparting their musical genius on the Tron Legacy soundtrack. |
