Photographic disaster
I first came in touch with this digital camera at 5-days trip I had to Paris before six months. My digital camera was at the service so I borrowed Cannon Power Shot SD780 Digital Camera from a friend. I thought that a 12 megapixels digital camera is a very good camera and the photos that it takes will be completely professional. But what a big surprise when I arrive at Paris and I tried to take my first NIGHT picture with this camera. All over the picture there were white dots. I tried different camera and lens customizations but the dots were still there. I haven’t got any night picture in Paris without these awful dots. When the morning has come, my camera continues to take some professional pictures under the light of sun. So I can say that this digital camera is only for bright rooms / environment. Don’t try to take a photo in a dark room even with the flash. Maybe the setup created the problem, but I am not a professional photographer and I want by a digital camera to take clear photos whenever I want.

Small and handy
Uses a lot of batteries for it's size

| The Good | The Canon Power-Shot SD780 caught me completely off guard when I upgraded from my old camera once it broke. The quality within the darker places seems to be much higher (I upgraded from an artifact compared to this) then it used to be while the actual quality of the pictures seems to almost be High-def capturing those moments with more realism. With the ability to record video, take pictures up close and print them easily within even difficult formats and several other options this camera seems to be one of the best that I've seen and has the ability to last long enough to stay such. |
| The Bad | While the thin frame does seem to make it easier to carry it also provides little room for the keys to bang it. My fingers aren't small so when your trying to hit that tiny button to make it take the picture the first time it can prove a hassle. After a while however the size of the button seems to not matter once you figure out the groove. Outside of the size of the buttons required, there comes to memory as to the cost of how much memory it takes to record video. The video recorder takes up an entire gigabyte for 5 minutes of life on High-Def which is way too much. |
| The Ugly | The camera has several wonderful features and factors that I probably forgot but I'm not a huge technical person so I wouldn't know about them. Much like the problem with the memory being used up too fast the camera seems to gobble up batteries like a pig. We can go through quite a few batteries within one day and I read somewhere that I could get them cheap but it seems that the price just goes up more. |
