I wish I never bought these. My old Sony MDR EX71's finally died after multiple resuscitations (soldering) and I needed a cheap pair for the gym and other activities to hazardous for my nice headphones. After browsing around Amazon I can across JBuds J2 premium yada yada earbuds. At the time, hundreds of reviews averaged out to about 4 out of 5 stars, so I though they might be worth a try. For $13 bucks, they would be adequate for the gym. To me, this was sort of like ask the audience on Who Wants to be a Millionaire; the audience failed me miserably. This was probably my fault since I have been expose to nicer headphones and earbuds, and may have been spoiled -- still, not as spoiled as these garbage earbuds. Im actually going to go down the star rating list because I dislike the J2's too much to give it a full on detailed review. Value: At around $13, you could do worse, but only if you try really hard. For its list price of $79.95...I can't believe the list price is $79.95. Size: If you have really big earholes, these might be for you, otherwise, it feels like something is violating your ears. Comfort: I am giving these two stars for comfort because putting rocks in my ears rate one star in my book, and these feel slightly better. Sound Quality: They sound worse than stock iPod buds. In fact, stock iPod buds sound amazing compared to the J2's. Everything sounds like a clap. Vocals and highs sound like snappy, baby hand claps. Low ends sound like fat, cupped hands claps. Design: Not too bad in this category. The earbuds come in an assortment of colors and standard black. The flaw here -- and what makes them so uncomfortable -- is the large driver housing. Image trying to fit a soda can in your mouth, some people can do, but its gonna hurt for most, just like these headphones. Ease of use: The highest rating for the J2 goes in this category. Good job J2! So, in closing, do not get this pair of earbuds. For a couple of bucks more, pick up the Sennheiser CX300's instead and be happy. |
