The GE Spacemaker Utilized Washer and Electric Dryer WSM2420DWW is excellent for doing laundry in small apartments and condos where there is always a lack of space. The small yet durable design allows it to fit very nicely in the bathroom closet and there is even enough space on the sides to allow additional electrical outlets and plumbing fixtures, if required at some point. It can handle a decent sized laundry load and the clothes are washed and dried quite thoroughly, much to my satisfaction. The installation of the washer and drier is extremely easy and I was even able to run both the washer and the drier at the same time , saving me a lot of time and increasing my productivity. The entire unit hardly makes any noise during the laundry process, so there are no complaints from any neighbors. It might falter on big loads, but for people who do not have huge stacks of laundry, the spacemaker washer and electric drier does the job quiet efficiently. The adjustable washing and drying settings help you determine the extent of your laundry. The setting for dewrinkling clothes is a very nice feature that impressed me a great extent. There are a few problems with the unit. The machine gives off excess heat during the drying cycle so its advisable to keep the bathroom door open. The washer does not spin the clothes likes normal laundromats, so they take some extra time to dry. Finally, at a price tag of over a thousand dollars it just seems too expensive. However for its stable performance and space saving value, I recommend this to all looking for a portable but powerful laundromat. |

Perfect unit for a small space!
User Review
| The Good | My sister has the GE Spacemaker® Unitized Washer and Electric Dryer set in her 2 bedroom apt and it fits perfectly in 2nd bedrooms closet. It's big enough to do an actual load of laundry! The older units I've seen let you wash two pairs of jeans at a time, so if you're not doing laundry every day you're stuck! This one has a pretty big capacity for a stackable. Plus there are adjustable settings like the big units have for permanent press, water level/load size, etc. Super quiet and tucked into a little nook, this set is perfect for people who just don't have the space for a full size laundry set! Plus it’s an all electric unit, which is an added bonus for folks like my sister who need to put this where no one can see it. |
| The Bad | I hit my head on the dryer door the last time I visited. Mind you, I'm constantly bumping into things and falling down, but this dryer door tends to try to close while you're getting your clothes out. Maybe it was the weight of the load in there, but still, it hurt! Plus, the dryer puts off a lot of heat. My sister has to leave the closet door open to let the heat escape and then that entire room gets hot. Good thing she has a 2 bedroom or the whole apartment would be a hot-box. |
| The Ugly | When I was contemplating buying a stackable washer and dryer set for my mom, who lives in a retirement community in a condo, I thought this would be perfect. But when I saw that I couldn't get it for under $1K I wasn't so happy. The price is a little high for a stackable... in my opinion. |
