The iphone 3GS is one of the best phones out right now for a large range of consumers. It sports a 320x480 screen, great for viewing pictures, videos and browsing the internet. The body of the phone feels substantial in the hands yet still pocket friendly size. Apple's OS is fluid, responsive, and for the most part stable. Throughout its 3 generations, the iphone has consistently provided a reliable and accurate touchscreen. The layout of the phone is very well done; its large screen gives enough room to display many options so navigation is intuitive. Possibly the best feature of the phone is the app store and the huge community that support it. With millions of apps at the user's disposal, the phone can become anything you want. There are internet radio apps, GPS apps, universal remote apps, even portable EKG monitors so doctors can check on their patients from the lunch room. As an owner of the iphone 3G, I was reluctant to upgrade to the 3GS after seeing the short list of improvements. Catching a good deal on a refurbished model, I made the switch and couldn't be happier. There is a noticeable improvement in speed when running apps and web browsing. With its processor bump, the 3GS can call itself a portable gaming system and be taken seriously (Street Fighter IV runs amazingly). A major, and much needed, upgrade is the 3 megapixel auto focusing camera. Finally its possible to take a picture of text! While not as versatile as a 5 mp Sony Ericsson phone, the 3GS takes great pictures. With all the features this phone is capable of, you find charging it on a regular basis becomes a habit and not a big inconvenience. As others have pointed out, there are a few obstacles keeping the phone from true greatness. The lack of multitasking for third party apps is a real pain; it would really be great to keep Pandora open while using the map or browser. No flash means a lot of videos online wont work on the phone. Occasionally apps and games will be buggy and crash without warning which can cause the app to close or in some cases require the phone to be restarted. While the screen on the iphone looks great, Apple has not made much headway in this department, using the same resolution since the first generation. Hopefully, Apple will reward its fans with something to compete with their friends' beautiful 480x800 Nexus One screens. The iphone 3GS might be the best smart phone out right now for AT&T and with rumors of another iteration on horizon, these phones are priced to sell. Rumors of firmware updates also hint at multitasking support which would be a huge deal for those of us still using "Jailed" phones. If the mandatory data plan is within your budget, definitely give this phone a try. |

| The Good | All in one, compatible with many bluetooth devices, appstore variety |
| The Bad | battery life inconsistency, occassional crashes |
| The Ugly | no multitasking!, dropped calls (more of a carrier's issue) |

The 3G S is a great phone. It eliminates the need to carry many different devices, making life just a little easier. However, its main purpose, being a phone, leaves us with a few questions regarding the reason it was made. Yes, it does have great features and you can download virtually ANYTHING you need from the appstore, the random dropped calls can get very annoying. Like I stated above, it's most likely an issue with AT&T and/or location, so the 3G S might get off the hook for that one. Multitasking is something this phone lacks. Not being able to run two or more apps at the same time is very frustrating, but it just ultimately takes some time getting used to and accepting. Other than that, this phone is great! The games on the phone are like none other, with awesome graphics, and full sound. The ipod in the phone is also very simple and easy to use. The battery can die rather quickly when you start getting into intensive applications and media, so keep a charger or cable at least (it is USB) handy. Dont rely on the battery indicator telling you an accurate reading, because it just might jump from 40% to 12%, or anything in between. That might just be a bug in the OS/firmware, so lets hope that gets fixed in a later release. If you have a couple bills, and no contract with your cellphone, I'd definitely recommend trying this out. Current AT&T deals are very affordable, with a refurbished unit well under $200.00USD |

| The Good | The high speed internet connectivity supporting 7.2 Mbps 3G makes the phone a blazing fast device. The 3.1 MP camera with auto focus, auto exposure and auto light balance makes it any photographer's delight and the addition of macro and low light modes makes it an excellent purchase in terms of quality photos. The scratch resistant surface ensures a smooth operation with the touch screen and accelerometer for auto rotate brings in the concept of next gen messaging through landscape mode. The high functioning iphone OS and the 3.5 mm audio jack provide the icing on the cake. |
| The Bad | NO file transfer through Bluetooth despite the claimed v2.1 chipset support. This forms a major drawback in the constantly evolving world of Bluetooth and related applications. No front camera for video calls and lack of multi codec support for video files add to the consumer woes. |
| The Ugly | No flash support for the internet and the camera, which seems primitive in such a high end device. Lack of FM radio , removable battery and expandable memory options raise lots of questions about its acceptability. |

The iPhone 3G was hailed as the most sought after high end fans in the mobile spectrum with Apple fanatics, curious spectators and analysts all debating over its features. Very soon, Apple launched the iPhone 3GS with the "S" promising better speeds and blazing fast connectivity. Does it live up to the claims? The answer is yes with a thumbs up from my side. Connectivity and speeds from the hallmark of the 3GS with the support for quadra band GSM, tri band HSDPA and 7.2Mbps 3G. Pages load faster, web applications launch faster and it is a treat for mobile computing on the move. The 3.15 MP camera with a variety of shooting focus and light modes adds to its flair and the new 3D graphics support in hardware makes a smooth sailing for fast complicated 3D gaming and image processing. The new magnetometer works like a compass and has integrated support for Google maps keeping me informed about my position. On a more personal note, I love the new voice controls and accessibility options like zooming of text with a pinch , inverting of video and voice over on touching texts. The iPhone OS with integrated applications and 32GB expandable storage makes up for all my needs with its iPod like audio quality a touch in its crowning glory. There are some flaws like lack of Bluetooth support, FM radio and multi codec functionality but overall the iPhone just wins you over with its overall interface , usibility and just the sheer style statement! It might be expensive, but its the coolest shiny new tech toy around. Go for it! |

| The Good | Apple iPhone 3GS is the update of the best seller iPhone 3G. I have both models so I can mark some good points of this device. First of all, the S that means speed is correct. This model is faster than the previous. It has a high performance operating system and fast speed networking. Another good thing is the compass that this model has. I am sure that no other mobile phone has this feature. It supports video recording and 3,2 MPixels camera, a great improvement from the predecessor, iPhone 3G. In my opinion, iPhone 3G is the best mobile phone ever made. Iphone 3GS comes to fill some incompleteness that 3G has. So I recommend this phone to everyone. |
| The Bad | There are two bad things for this model. First, it doesn’t support files transfer via Bluetooth although it has a Bluetooth chipset installed. Second, is that it is too expensive. The buyer has to pay over 700 dollars to acquire it. The 3G model is now available for only 300$. The 400 dollars amount is too big for differences that these models have. |
