Me and my mother have problem with gastroesophageal reflux disease. When our dinner is after eight o’clock we can’t sleep because our oesophagus is burn. We took many different pills and other medicines but the problem wasn’t solver. Until another doctor suggests us to us Prilosec. He said that this medicine is not for immediate relief of heartburn symptoms, such as all the other medicines that we took, but a medicine that will heal the gastroesophageal reflux disease forever. We tried this, because the problem was very big and we were desperate. It is unbelievable that after a month we didn’t suffer from heartburn anymore.

| The Good | The good is that this pill can heal heartburn forever. It isn’t a chewing gum that drops the acid in the stomach for two hours and the next day the problem still exists. It is a medicine. |
| The Bad | The bad is that during the cure you have to take and antibiotics because it is possible to have stomach ulcer due to a bacterium that this medicine has. |

It's Good Stuff!

Prilosec lived up to its name and claim.

| The Good | For occasional heartburn pain, Prilosec is pretty good stuff. It helps block the acid production in your stomach which causes a lot of GI upset. You take this only once a day for 14 days if your heartburn seems to come on more than two times a week. Prilosec does a really good job for relief of occasional heartburn pain. |
| The Bad | This doesn’t help immediate heartburn pain; it takes up to four days to completely do its job, but usually helps in 1 to 2 days. So you’ll need to take Pepto or Maalox or some other immediate relief preparation, as well as Prilosec for longer lasting relief. Also, I had a small 1 to 2 day bout with diarrhea when I took this. Small price to pay though for the heartburn I felt. |
| The Ugly | The worst part is the cost of Prilosec. In Walgreen’s you can find this for about $10 to $15 for a 14-day treatment plan; the more in the box, the more it costs. For those with insurance, a co-pay for prescriptions is usually $10 to $20 for an entire months’ worth of treatment. I guess if your symptoms are only occasional this would be ideal, but for routine sufferers, this is only going to mask the problem for a couple weeks at a time. If you continue to have problems with acid reflux, you need to see a physician anyway… there may be a bigger problem that needs to be addressed. |
